Evaluation: Loss of life’s Gambit
It has been a hell of a 12 months for followers of indie video games impressed by the all-time nice Castlevania: Symphony of the Evening and its ilk. I really feel like I have been on a chronic 2D motion sport bender.
Whereas a few of these titles are rather more straight influenced than others, we have had Chasm, Lifeless Cells, and Guacamelee 2 again to again to again. None of these want an introduction, however one different sport within the combine, Loss of life’s Gambit, could warrant a refresher. It appears rather less seen than its friends.
I may shortly sum it up as “Castlevania Souls,” and that may get me a lot of the method there. Loss of life’s Gambit places a slight wrinkle on the well-established darkish fantasy action-RPG components. Whereas it is not the technical or design marvel I hoped for, it has some intelligent concepts and a ton of coronary heart.
